Municipal Elections Review:
Now that Municipal Election results are out and they have delivered a master stroke to YS Jagan big time. The dreams of having majority seats of YSR Congress (in Seema Andhra) and TRS (in Telangana), Telugu Desam Party and Congress were clear winners in both the regions. Except for Chittoor and Kadapa, Telugu Desam Party is well ahead of YSR Congress in the remaining 11 districts of Seema Andhra. In the Telangana region, Congress managed to win 525 wards while TRS came second with 313.
In terms of municipalities, Telugu Desam Party had won 58 municipalities while YSR Congress just managed 18 of them. 18 of the municipalities have gone for a hung with Congress not even opening their account. In Prakasam and West Godavari, Congress did not manage to win even one ward. In Kadapa and Krishna it just managed one seat. TDP had won five of the total seven municipal corporations while YSRCP managed to win in Nellore and Kadapa.
In Telangana, the confused mandate of the people is clearly visible. Congress managed to win 16 muncipalities while TRS managed just 9 of them. TDP and BJP combined registered an impressive 7 municipalities win. 19 have gone to hung while MIM and BSP managed one each. Karimnagar Muncipal Corporation went to TRS while the rest of corporations Ramagundam and Nizamabad are grabbed by Congress.
The morale of YSR Congress is badly affected due to this results while TRS leaders say these are expected due to less influence of the party in Southern Telangana and Hyderabad. The results of MPTC and ZPTC elections will give a clear picture of the Assembly elections.
