Nara Lokesh targets 1,000 Five-Star schools

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has set a major target to improve government schools and give students more opportunities to learn new skills.

Lokesh directed officials to bring all government schools to Four-Star standards by 2029. He also wants 1,000 schools to reach Five-Star standards.

The government plans to provide skill training to five lakh students and set up computer labs and Atal Tinkering Labs in around 7,000 high schools.

According to officials, AP currently has 1,685 One-Star, 15,618 Two-Star, 19,099 Three-Star and 7,172 Four-Star schools.

Lokesh asked officials to upgrade all One-Star schools to Two-Star level within a year. Zero-Star schools should reach at least One-Star level during the current academic year.

Officials have also been asked to prepare a plan for 1,000 Five-Star schools. The government plans to develop 175 LEAP schools, one in each Assembly constituency.

Special attention will be given to schools in agency and backward areas, with a focus on better infrastructure, technology and learning facilities.

The overall aim is to improve government schools while giving students better access to skills, technology and practical learning.
