HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has directed officials to draft a new act for managing government colleges and higher education institutions. He held a review meeting at his Undavalli residence to discuss intermediate and higher education colleges.
Lokesh said many students study for four years but still fail to get jobs, while others secure jobs after four months coaching in Ameerpet. He stressed the need to revamp the education policy to make college education more job-oriented.
The Minister instructed officials to integrate ITIs and colleges with industries by November. He also directed them to include private colleges on the Naipunyam portal. Lokesh said colleges must ensure campus placements and students must attend classes regularly.
He added that institutions should track student progress from KG to PG and work towards higher NIRF rankings. Lokesh told officials to fill vacant posts in colleges and ensure 100% placements through campus recruitment drives. He also highlighted the importance of collecting student feedback.
Speaking about intermediate education, Lokesh said that student progress must be closely monitored. He added that permissions for private colleges should follow a fixed timeline.
