After facing a humiliating result from the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency in 2019, Nara Lokesh had a tremendous campaign in 2024 from the very same constituency.
Lokesh was able to secure the otherwise detrimental Mangalagiri Assembly constituency by tremendous margin of more than 91,000 votes. This is the first time in recent history, the TDP was able to capture the Mangalagiri constituency and it happened due to the effect of Lokesh.
YS Jagan had multiple weapons in his arsenal, but he went for the unconventional choice of changing the MLA candidate from the tradition Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, which backfired very badly.
Now the latest news is that Jagan has deployed another new weapon to counter Lokesh in the Mangalagiri constituency.
Jagan has appointed Somireddy Venugopal as the convenor of the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency, and this was communicated earlier. This should be the new weapon choice used by Jagan against Lokesh as he is changing things up in the constituency.
Venugopal is nowhere a like for like replacement to Ramakrishna Reddy who was actually able to defeat Lokesh in 2019. So this new appointment is already in question with the local cadres.
At the end of the day, the political moves of Jagan are hard to comprehend for many others, and we have to patiently wait and see if this appointment of a new member in Lokesh’s Mangalagiri will have a positive effect for YCP.
