New Year came in with a bang for the excise department. The department earned Rs 402 crore on Dec 30, 2024 and Rs 282 crore on Dec 31, 2024.
In December alone, Rs 3615 crore was earned by the department owing to parties and gatherings. 3,82,365 liquor cases were sold while 3,96,114 beer cases were sold on just December 30th.
The excise department earned Rs 56.47 lakh from 287 events. The excise department gave permissions for 287 events in all for the new year parties.
243 permissions were given in Rangareddy district and the other 44 were given in rest of the districts. Earlier in 2023, the department gave permissions for 224 events and raked in Rs 44.76 lakh in revenues.
Meanwhile Excise Enforcement Director VV Kamalasan Reddy shared that about 40 units were created to conduct raids on Tuesday evening and wee hours of Wednesday (Dec 31). He informed four cases were booked during the time.
On the other hand 313gm of ganja was seized and two persons on drugs were caught during the raids.
