The Telangana government had launched ‘She Cabs’ last year amid much fanfare with the promise to ensure utmost safety to women while commuting. These cabs are driven by women drivers and GHMC had lent loans for the vehicles. But only six such cabs are operating in the entire city indicating a flop show.

She Cabs since their inception in November 2015, took only 4623 trips with an average of 20 trips a day by all cabs put together. Six of the operational cabs run just an average of three trips a day, against eight by regular cabs. The woman drivers of these cabs quit driving very soon and some of them are even involved in minor accident.
There are no takers for the cab driver posts since then. One more reason for the failure is that the cost of plying in these cabs is more than the double of normal cab services like Uber and Ola. More over, the services are very unprofessional with customers being made to wait for more than 30 minutes after booking a cab.
