Why Is Sanatani Pawan Kalyan Silent On Akhanda 2?

Balakrishna in Akhanda 2 film scene

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 features dialogues and scenes that highlight Hindutva and Sanatani Culture. Despite discussions around its box office performance and shortcomings, the film clearly resonated with Hindutva Seers and sections of the audience aligned with its ideological tone.

At the film’s success meet, director Boyapati Srinu announced that a special screening of Akhanda 2 will be organised in Delhi. He also stated that Prime Minister Modi is expected to watch the film, adding to the attention surrounding its political and cultural messaging.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat have already praised Akhanda 2. However, Pawan Kalyan, who positions himself as a Sanatani Protector in Andhra Pradesh, has remained silent about the film so far, which has surprised many observers.

Interestingly, Akhanda 2 was initially scheduled for release on September 25th. That date later went to Pawan Kalyan’s OG, even though Akhanda 2 had announced its release first. Boyapati Srinu revealed that Balakrishna asked the team to step aside so that Brother Pawan Kalyan could score a hit.

Pawan Kalyan is now part of the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, making his silence more noticeable. His lack of response or promotion for a film centred on Sanatana Dharma has become a talking point, especially given his public ideological positioning.

Balakrishna may be one of the reasons behind this silence. In October, his comments about Jagan and Chiranjeevi in the Assembly triggered controversy. He directly called Jagan “Psycho Gadu” and made remarks that many felt were disrespectful towards Chiranjeevi.

Chiranjeevi later issued a strong press release, and Mega fans expected Pawan Kalyan to respond. He chose to stay silent to avoid alliance issues. That silence upset Mega fans, and it appears Pawan Kalyan has taken the same approach with Akhanda 2.
