When the first part of Akhanda released, the situation was far from ideal. It was the first major Telugu film to arrive after the Covid wave, at a time when audiences were still hesitant to return to theatres. Even then, the devotional action drama set the box office on fire and revived the theatre-going spirit.
Now, the second part is facing a fresh set of challenges, but these issues are largely man made. The film was first postponed from 5 December to 12 December due to financial hurdles. Today, the Telangana High Court cancelled the permissions for premiere shows and elevated ticket prices, creating a difficult situation just hours before its theatrical debut.
Given these unexpected roadblocks, it would be remarkable if Balayya manages to create a sensation once again. The current circumstances are not entirely in the film’s favour and only strong content can push it toward success from this point forward. The pressure is higher than ever.
It is worth noting that Balayya has been in excellent form with consecutive hits. Akhanda 2 is one of his biggest projects in recent years, and he needs to reinforce his strong streak with this release. All eyes are now on whether the film can rise above its challenges and deliver another powerful performance.
