Tensions grew in the area as the situation escalated. The police arrested Perni Nani, Perni Kittu, Kale Anil, Simhadri Ramesh, Devineni Avinash, and several others.

The arrests shocked the leaders, as a total of 400 cases were registered against them.

YSRCP launched the protest against the Chandrababu government’s decision to run medical colleges under the PPP model. They claimed that Jagan approved 17 medical colleges in the state.

YSRCP leaders warned that privatizing medical colleges would deprive middle-class and poor students of educational opportunities. The party has announced state-wide protests and plans to intensify them if the decision is not revoked.

The Chandrababu government defended its move, stating it aims to provide better quality education to medical students.
