Phone Tapping Case Turns Serious: SC Orders Arrest

Supreme Court order in phone tapping case

The phone tapping case in Telangana intensified as ex IPS officer Prabhakar Rao, the main accused, faced a setback in the Supreme Court. He had sought anticipatory bail, but the request did not go in his favour. The case continues to draw attention.

The Supreme Court instructed him to surrender before SIT officials by 11 am at Jubilee Hills police station. The Court allowed custodial investigation but made it clear that there must be no physical handling of Prabhakar Rao. This direction was noted in the proceedings.

The counsel for the state government said that Prabhakar Rao was not fully cooperating despite clear instructions. The Court had asked him to reset icloud passwords and share the details with SIT, but he changed only two passwords. They added that both accounts already had deleted data.

When the Apex Court questioned Prabhakar Rao’s lawyer, the lawyer stated that an affidavit had been filed explaining how he cooperated with SIT. Since it was filed at 4 pm on Tuesday, the state counsel said there was no time to review it. After hearing both sides, the Court again instructed Prabhakar Rao to surrender before SIT officials.
