TDP has adopted a distinctive approach in its ticket allocation for the upcoming general elections. Without showing any favouritism, the tickets were given to the truly-deserving candidates, irrespective of their financial status or political power.

One such caniddate is Miriyala Sirisha Devi, who has been nominated by the TDP to contest from the Rampachodavaram constituency.

Sirisha, a Dalit woman, was a victim of online abuse by supporters and leaders of the ruling YCP party. While YCP harassed her, TDP trusted her by offering a ticket.

Sirisha had been serving as an Anganwadi worker for the last eight years in Anantagiri village, located in the Rajavommangi mandal of the Alluri Seetharamaraju district. Meanwhile, her husband, Vijaya Bhaskar, works as the Telugu Yuvatha president for the Rampachodavaram constituency.

Leaders of the ruling YCP targeted both Sirisha and Vijaya Bhaskar on social media. They morphed Sirisha’s images and spreading false information on social media, accusing her of neglecting her duties to participate in TDP campaigns alongside her husband. They also filed complaints against her with higher authorities, and tried hard to get her sacked from the job.

Faced with constant harassment, Sirisha eventually resigned from her post. Since then, she has been actively fighting against the atrocties of the YCP, by working for the TDP alongside her husband.

Sirisha’s nomination also received a positive response from the people of Rampachodavaram constitunecy. They have also commended the TDP for its bold decision to nominate her candidacy.
