The Press Council of India had taken the hate speech of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao on media very seriously. Condemning the attempts to curb the freedom of speech, Press Council had appointed a three member committee to probe in to the issue. Senior Journalist Rajiv Ranjan will be the convenor of the committee which will have K.Amarnath, Krishna Prasad as members.
The committee will meet with Telangana DGP and Chief Secretary and give them instructions regarding the safeguarding of Press freedom. The committee will tour Warangal and meet the journalists present at the event of this hate speech. Later will meet Telangana officials and journalists in Hyderabad. The committee is expected to submit a report on its findings in the next 15 days. It is also said that the Press Council of India had also taken the issue of ban on ABN and TV9 very seriously.
