Raghu Rama Krishna Raju Should Control His Emotions A Bit

We all know how Raghu Rama Krishna Raju fought against a tyrannical government in Andhra Pradesh during Jagan’s rule. He was the first to revolt against Jagan Mohan Reddy, even before the then opposition recovered from the 2019 defeat.

He joined the TDP just before the elections, contested from a new seat, and won. While RRR expected a Cabinet Berth, Chandrababu Naidu instead appointed him as Deputy Speaker.

This decision was disappointing for RRR. The Deputy Speaker role demands calmness and composure, qualities not usually associated with a rebel like him. His discomfort in the position is becoming visible.

At times, Raghu Rama Krishna Raju struggles to control his emotions. Recently, TDP Tadikonda MLA Sravan Kumar spoke on the GST regime and exceeded his time. Even after the Deputy Speaker rang the bell twice, he continued.

Growing impatient, RRR sarcastically remarked, “Sravan Kumar had spoken in great detail but those who are speaking now, please not take him as an example and test the patience of the members.” This left Sravan Kumar slightly annoyed.

On another occasion, RRR suggested a Kerala Model to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for reducing single-use plastic bottles, especially liquor bottles. While he was speaking, a member kept raising his hand for attention.

Visibly irritated, RRR told him to stop doing so, saying he had already noticed the repeated gesture. Such moments highlight his difficulty in hiding emotions in the House.

However, as Deputy Speaker, his role demands composure and patience. With no Opposition in the House due to a boycott, these emotions against his own party members and allies appear unnecessary. It is time for him to make amends.
