TDP’s Social Experiment in GHMC Elections With Commoners.

Telugu Desam Party which is severely battered in Telangana is doing a Social Experiment in the GHMC Elections. The party which is deserted by the leaders who moved towards the greener pastures has turned to its grassroots level workers in the election.

The party has fielded some of the most common people in the election. Farhana, wife of a cab driver, and Rekha, who irons clothes for a living are contesting the upcoming GHMC election on TDP tickets. Two women from modest backgrounds to contest the GHMC election on TDP tickets.

In the posh area of Jubilee Hills, a milkman, Mamidi Narasimha, is the party’s candidate. There are many other candidates who are on the list who come from a modest background. “This is how TDP started when it was founded. Several big leaders today are commoners when they first got party tickets. So, we are back to the old strategy,” a TDP leader told us.

“Loyalty and honesty are the key aspects which were considered in finalizing the candidates this time. We also chose candidates who are accessible and humble to the people all of the time. We hope they will impress the people and get to represent them in the corporation,” he added.
