An Indian of Irish descent, Grace O’Malley-Kumar, happens to be one of the victims of the horrific and insane triple murders that took place in Nottingham. A yet-to-be-identified man stabbed the victims. The incident shook the entire country.
Condolences have been pouring in from across the country for the bereaved family. 19-year-old Grace O’Malley-Kumar was returning from a night out with fellow University of Nottingham student Barnaby Webber, 19, was stabbed to death during the early hours.
According to Nottingham police, the 31-year-old murderer then went on to stab a 60-year-old man and tried to run over three people in a van stolen from the old man. The incident that happened in central England has caused worldwide outrage.
Grace O’Malley Kumar was studying medicine at the University of Nottingham and was a talented athlete who played hockey at underage level for England. Incidentally, she belonged to a family of doctors, and her father, Dr. Sanjoy Kumar, has been a general practitioner for 20 years. He is also a member of the Order of British Empire (MBE) for his selfless work of saving three teenage stabbing victims in 2009.
Her mother’s family too consists of doctors, and her mother is an anesthetist, while her grandfather was the former head of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Grace is remembered as a happy teenager who enjoyed medicine.
