Congress Never Learns? Infights Suicidal?

The opposition could be strong or not, the Congress is historically known to self-inflict damage to the party. People voted for the Congress after it managed to reach out to people in rural pockets who were vexed with the corrupt BRS party in Telangana.

For the people, it was a savior. For Congress, it was the opportunity to rule the state after a long gap. In short, it was also the return of the Reddy leaders as the Telangana Congress is known for its affinity to the community.

The story began on a wobbly note. The chances of Congress winning looked meager, but Revanth Reddy was determined. He took a chance, did his research and ensured Congress victory. The candidature of CM Revanth Reddy was opposed by senior Congress leaders. But he pacified them and came to power.

Two years have passed. Now, the situation in Congress is back to where it started. Revanth Reddy is enjoying absolute power with the blessings of the High Command. But power corrupts even the best and Revanth seems to be no different. He is behaving like ” nene raju, nene mantri”. His decisions regarding Hyderabad are drawing criticism from his own ministers. Also, Revanth is committing the same mistake that his predecessors did. He is concentrating development in Hyderabad.

He does announce projects in the interiors, but they don’t count to much. Neither is he turning Telangana into a rice bowl. Hence, there is resentment among people. There have reported incidents of the Congress leaders being heckled during field visits.

That is CM’s chapter. Then come the Ministers. Konda Surekha, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, are all mired in controversies and have simmering differences with other Ministers. Then comes the PCC chief’s post. Slowly, there is resentment among the Reddy leaders towards the PCC chief who comes from a BC community. The demand is now vocal.

Like is the norm in Congress states, the CM flies to Delhi every other day. There are rumours that he has to pay his “fees” to the High Command for being in power. Then there is a never-ending debate about Revanth Reddy being an outsider who works on the orders of Chandrababu.

Leaders like Jeevan Reddy, Rajagopal Reddy, Jagga Reddy and others have openly criticized Revanth Reddy and demanded a change of CM. It is said that Deputy CM Bhatti is silently building his coterie to take over from Revanth Reddy.

Hence, it is obvious once again that Congress does not need an external enemy. It digs its own grave over time!
