Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan resigned from her post. She is expected to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. She has also resigned from the Lieutenant Governor post of Puducherry.
According to the sources, Tamilisai asked for the Chennai Central ticket. However, the party’s high command is yet to take a call. An official announcement of her Lok Sabha ticket is expected to be out by this evening.
Tamilisai assumed the role of Telangana Governor in 2019 and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in 2021.
Tamilisai had earlier contested in both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections but never managed to win.
In 2019, she contested in the Lok Sabha elections from Thoothukkudi and was lost to Kanimozhi Karunanidhi. It has to be seen if Tamilisai wins her first election this year.
