Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is in Vizag. He performed Bhoomi Pooja for the Inorbit Mall construction. The CM also addressed a Public meeting at the construction site.
The speech of Jagan at this meeting raised eyebrows. The Chief Minister spoke as if the mall is some industry coming to the city due to his hard work or vision.
The mall is a private business that is being established on land leased from Port for 30 years. Except for giving permissions, the Government has no role to play in the mall.
But the Chief Minister’s speech is as if he fought with neighboring states to bring the industry so that people can get jobs. Jagan announced that it is the biggest mall of Inorbit in the entire South India and will bring 8,000 jobs.
This is another exaggeration. Probably, all the malls in Hyderabad together may not have created 8,000 jobs.
If we also add indirect jobs, the products sold in these malls will create employment elsewhere since their manufacture is not here. So, the creation of 8000 jobs is a big exaggeration.
The Chief Minister also announced an IT Park on three acres of the Inorbit Mall complex. This is another strange idea when the Government is busy driving away the smaller IT companies that are present in the Millennium Towers of Vishakapatnam.
Inorbit is investing 600 Crore in this facility of Vizag. If this is a stellar development, Jagan Mohan Reddy should explain why his government drove away the Rs 2,200-crore Lulu International Shopping Mall and Convention Hall from Vishakapatnam.
The idea of this Bhoomi Pooja and the public meeting is to give an impression to the people that if Jagan Government brought some big-ticket investment to Vishakapatnam. But the actual fact is that the Government’s involvement in this is minimal.
The mall has come to Vizag due to its inherent cosmopolitan nature. This Government did not even lay a brick in Vizag to better the city or its infrastructure to claim the credit.
Another highlight is the speeches of the Business heads of Raheja Group as well. The speeches have high praise for Jagan and YSR too leaving people scratching their heads.
Jagan showed heaven in hand for the people of Vizag and Uttarandhra in the name of Executive Capital. Now, all that is left is claiming credit for a shopping mall in which the Government has a minimal role to play.
