Sharmila To Loose Deposit From Paleru?

Sharmila is treading the wrong path right from the day she decided to enter politics on her own.

Choosing Telangana itself was a big mistake and later she chose to merge her party into Congress. The Grand Old Party as always did photo-ops and left Sharmila to her fate and that worsened things for Sharmila’s YSR Telangana Party.

Now, she had decided to contest independently in all the 119 seats. She herself will be in the fray from Paleru constituency of Khammam district.

Paleru constituency has been the bastion of Congress for ages. The Reddy community is the dominant force here.

Except for the by-election in 2016 when TRS’s Tummala Nageshwar Rao won, Congress has been winning the constituency since 1999. The grand-old party won the constituency in five elections.

Kandala Upender Reddy, who contested from Congress in the last Assembly elections won.

Sharmila is banking on the Reddy sentiment in Paleru. But the problem is that why would Reddys look at Sharmila ignoring Congress which is the Principal Opposition Party?

Upender Reddy from BRS and Ponguleti from Congress are in the fray from Paleru. It is so difficult for voters to look at Sharmila ignoring them. Considering the public perception after that failed merger and YSRTP’s natural weaknesses in Telangana, it will be a big surprise if Sharmila does not lose her deposit here.

Instead, she should have contested from the Secunderabad segment trying to target the Christian voters who are decisive there.
