YSR Congress’ No Confidence on Speaker fails!

The main opposition party, YSR Congress had initiated a No Confidence Motion on Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao this morning. Deputy Speaker, Mandali Buddha Prasad chaired the No Confidence Motion discussion which went on for two hours. YSR Congress MLAs even made allegations on the Speaker and his family.

They even dug in to the past cases of the Speaker even though he got clean-chit. After the discussion, voting was conducted over the motion on the insistence of the opposition party. 97 members have voted against the No Confidence Motion and 57 members have voted in favour of the motion.

18 MLAs were absent for the session and one MLA, Roja was suspended from the house for a period of one year. Speaker and Deputy Speaker did not vote. Nine YSR Congress MLAs were absent from the proceedings of the house today but the party can not initiate any action on them because the party did not issue any whip to the members for this motion.
