A video is going viral on social media showcasing that Indians don’t know the limit when it comes to weddings.
In the video, we get to see the dowry the groom got in the wedding. It started with a Nissan car, then we got to see utensils!! Not a dinner set, but the whole warehouse it seemed.
The video moved forward to display the home appliances, jewelleries, furniture and what not.
Many people would just laugh at it or call it crazy. But this just shows the reality of our society. Dowry, which has been termed illegal by Indian law, is still practiced and normal for a big part of the society.
Not only that, many lives have been destroyed and lost due to dowry. Many times the groom’s side forces the bride’s family to give dowry and harasses the bride if refused.
We pride ourselves over developments we have had in the last few decades, in all aspects. But, if we want to develop even further, we need to let go of some customs that more often than not lead to pain and trauma. Dowry is one of those customs.
