The makers of the movie Pippa were under constant attacks by the general public and the kin of late Kazi Nazrul Islam for the modern interpretation of the historical song ‘Karar Oi Louho Kapat’. The new rendition of the song is composed by none other than the legend AR Rahman. The constant attacks have forced the filmmakers to issue a statement about the issue and make a public apology.
‘Karar Oi Louho Kapat’ is a patriotic song which was penned down by freedom fighter, Kazi Nazrul Islam in 1922. The filmmakers had taken permission from the kin of Kazi Nazrul to make a modern rendition of the song. However, the new song upset people largely and many people said that the original song was murdered by AR Rahman.
Now the makers of Pippa have issued a statement trying to explain their intentions behind the remaking of the song. They said that they have deep respect for the original composer and dedicated this song to everyone who fought during the liberation of Bangladesh.
They released a statement saying that they sincerely apologize if their interpretation has hurt sentiments or caused distress to anyone. It is always a difficult job to work on something which is emotional to such a huge population.
