Amazon is set to cut more jobs, this time targeting its HR teams. According to Fortune magazine, about 15% of the HR workforce will be affected. The company hasn’t shared details about the exact number of employees or departments involved.
These layoffs come as part of Amazon’s larger reorganization plan. Alongside its focus on AI, Amazon is investing heavily in cloud technology. This year, it plans to spend nearly $100 billion on new tech, with a big share going toward advanced data centers.
Between 2022 and 2023, Amazon let go of around 27,000 employees. The company continues to emphasize the rise of AI, urging employees to adapt and use AI tools to improve customer service.
Even as it reduces staff, Amazon is preparing for festive demand. It plans to hire about 2,50,000 seasonal workers for its warehouses and logistics operations during the busy holiday season.
