A 22 year old nursing student in Bengaluru filed a gang rape complaint on 6 December 2025 against a cab driver and his friends. She told the police that the attack happened near a railway terminal. The driver was arrested soon after the case was registered.
During the inquiry, the police examined CCTV footage and WhatsApp chats. Their findings showed that the student and the driver had spent the night together by mutual choice. The chats revealed that she continued speaking with him normally, and the CCTV confirmed that no other men were present. When questioned again, she admitted the complaint was false.
She said she lied because she had love bites and marks on her neck and feared her boyfriend would question her. To hide the truth, she blamed the driver and filed a false case. The driver is a father of two, and his family suffered because of the allegation.
Even after the truth comes out, society may still judge someone unfairly. Filing a false complaint to cover up a personal mistake is also a crime, and such actions must face proper punishment.
