Bengaluru’s police have launched a unique program focusing on road safety and traffic rule enforcement. The initiative, currently underway in the city’s east division for around 15 days, involves traffic police identifying individuals, particularly those in IT companies, violating traffic rules. The identified violations are then shared with the respective companies to raise awareness.
Rather than imposing spot fines, online challans for violations are issued, and the company is informed through WhatsApp without disclosing personal information. The police recommend companies to organize sessions educating employees about traffic laws and road safety. This collaborative approach aims to instill a culture of compliance and responsibility, reducing traffic violations.
The initiative also aids traffic management by collecting daily data on the number of private vehicles entering tech parks along the IT corridor. Overall, this program reflects a proactive effort by Bengaluru’s police to engage with companies, promote awareness, and encourage responsible behavior to enhance road safety and minimize traffic rule violations.
