
President Droupadi Murmu has ushered in a new era for India’s legal framework by signing three groundbreaking bills into law. The Bharatiya Sakshya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill, 2023, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill, 2023 have now replaced the aging Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Evidence Act.
The three pivotal bills into law, replacing the antiquated Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Evidence Act. The Bharatiya Sakshya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill, 2023, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill, 2023, passed amid a contentious Winter Session, aim to strengthen penalties for terrorism, lynching, and threats to national security.
