Crores For Airport Passengers, What About Rails?

Airport Passengers

Recently, photos and videos of passengers sitting and dining at the tarmac of an airport have been going viral over the internet. The incident raised concerns among the security experts who remained baffled how and why it was permitted. The delay in an Indigo flight had caused chaos to follow at Mumbai Airport.

Taking notice of the incident authorities decided to investigate the case and they have now decided to punish both Indigo airlines and the Mumbai Airport for being responsible for it. The DGCA fined Indigo ₹1.2 crore for the incident while Mumbai airport was forced to pay ₹90 lakh in fines.

The incident was a safety hazard and it showed how both the airlines and airport failed to control the passengers. However, if we compare the scenes from a railway station, it will appear as any normal day even at the best of the platforms in India.

The railway stations in India have the usual scene of numerous passengers sleeping on platforms, dining anywhere and breaching numerous safety protocols. However, we see a dual standard here as never there is any action taken against the Indian Railways or the Station for failing to ensure safety.
