A disturbing incident from Gurugram has sparked serious concerns about women’s safety during late-night cab rides. A young woman alleged harassment by a Rapido driver while travelling home from work at night.
According to her statement, she booked a Rapido cab after leaving her office late. During the ride, the driver allegedly played loud music while she was on a phone call. Despite repeated requests to lower the volume, he refused and made an offensive remark.
When she expressed her discomfort, the situation escalated. The driver allegedly stopped the cab midway and said he would not take her further. When she insisted on being dropped at her destination, he reportedly diverted the route.
The woman became alarmed as it was very late at night. She managed to get out of the cab and began recording the incident. The video reportedly captured parts of the confrontation.
She further alleged that the driver threatened her with sexual assault. Fearing for her safety, she decided to approach the police station immediately after the incident.
However, she claimed that police personnel attempted to convince her to withdraw the FIR. The woman refused, stating that she wanted the driver to be held accountable to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Her family stood by her decision and supported her legally. The woman has now taken the case to the High Court seeking justice.
Following the incident, many women on social media shared similar experiences. Several users praised her courage and expressed solidarity, calling for stronger action to ensure women’s safety during late-night travel.
