There have been growing concerns around the lives of Indians and that of especially Indian students stuck in Israel during this war with Hamas. However, it has been realized that the lives of Indians are not in immediate danger in the current situation, still, an air of uncertainty is causing a bit of panic among the family members of these students back home. Some of these students have shared their experience living in the days of war with the media.
What might be a serious cause for panic in most parts of the world is unfortunately the living reality in Israel. Whenever there is a rocket fired, the sirens go off warning people to take shelter for a potential incoming threat. People of Israel have grown habituated with it and know how to react in situations like these. However what happened on the morning of 7th of October was unprecedented. The terrorists targeted regions close to the border which usually allows very less reaction time after the sirens.
These regions were heavily bombarded by rockets but it turns out that it was just a cover for a more aggravated infiltration attack that followed on the day. These terrorists attacked several border communities causing huge loss of life.
The Indian diaspora in Israel have had support from the embassy as well as the universities. However, several students are considering going back to the country in these tough times. On the other hand a majority of these students trust the defense system of Israel and believes no harm could be inflicted on them.
