Honor Killing Horror: Woman Marries Lover’s Dead Body

Nanded honour killing funeral scene

A shocking case of honour killing has emerged from Nanded, Maharashtra. A young couple, both consenting adults, wanted to marry. The only barrier was caste. The boy belonged to what society labels a lower caste, while the girl came from an upper caste family. Her family refused to accept the relationship.

Saksham, aged 20, was killed by the father and brothers of Anchal. It is yet another reminder of how caste pride still ends young lives in India. Many couples lose their future to violence because their families refuse to accept inter-caste relationships.

But Anchal took a stand even in her grief. She went to Saksham’s house, where preparations for the funeral were underway. There, she married his dead body, a defiant act that shook everyone present. She said that their love was denied, but not destroyed.

Anchal vowed to live with Saksham’s family as his widow. She demanded strict action against her own family for the murder, refusing to let the crime be buried with her partner.
