A few days back, more than 120 people lost their lives in a stampede that happened in a religious congregation in the state of Uttar Pradesh. A lot of questions were raised on how such a huge crowd was allowed to gather without any preparation from the authorities. News channels blamed everyone they can including the dead but what happened yesterday exposed how bigoted our media and society is.

The Indian cricket team received a grand welcome in Mumbai as the team decided to have a victory parade which ended at Wankhede. Millions of cricket fans were on the streets to witness it and the aerial view of marine drive in Mumbai was frightening.

It has rarely happened that such a huge crowd has gathered on those streets ever. There was joy and happiness in the atmosphere but there lingered a risk of mishap that no one talked about.

Such a huge crowd cannot be controlled by any authority and it could’ve been a catastrophe if anything would’ve gone wrong. The after parade images show that many people lost their slippers and belongings in the crowd which suggests how dangerous it was.

However, for the media, it was a scene to behold. The same people who were talking about the Hathras mishap were glorifying this victory march and saluting the spirit of the fans which can be described as nothing short of craziness.
