Ever came across a begger with a QR code scanner in his bowl?
Post lockdown, we’ve seen several changes in so many aspects of our lives. Starting from our shopping methods to our payment ways Everything’s changed. In terms of digital payment methods, India is achieving new milestones everyday. Even beggars are not very far from this post lockdown E-commerce business.
A picture is going viral these days which shows a begger with a Paytm QR scanner in his bowl. Yes, we live in a country which ranks first among the world in terms of online payment with around 90 million transactions per year. And this serves as a great testimony to our “Digital India” initiative.
This is not the first time where we are witnessing such digital beggers. A few months back another beeger named Raju Patel from Bettiyah Railway station in Bihar was also seen going digital with his business. He used to wear a QR code scanner around his neck and roam in search of online payment. When asked about his high tech way of begging he replied to a news portal “I accept digital payments, it’s enough to get the work done & fill my stomach.”
It shows a different face of our society. Isn’t it ironical that beggers themselves are updating in order to survive. When will our government do anything to make their lives better? Can’t these people be taught some other skills to make a productive citizen than just being a liability. We need to think about it.
