A social media post on X (Twitter) has gone viral regarding the condition of Indian Railways. Abhas Kumar Shrivastava from Bihar had to travel standing even after getting a confirmed ticket.
This incident occurred in the Rourkela Intercity SF Express from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. Abhas shared his experience about the overcrowding many of the trains face in the country. He had booked the ticket four days prior for the sleeper class but could not even reach his seat due to the crowd on the train. He added that after he reached his seat, a pregnant lady was sitting there, so he left and stood at the gate for the rest of his journey.
Everyone who has travelled on the train has faced this situation at least once, especially during the festive season. But, in the last few years, it is become very common to find such a huge crowd on trains. Many people get on the sleeper coaches thinking it’s a general one and that leads to discomfort for the ones who had actually reserved the seat.
Indian Railways needs to to increase the number of trains and take some harsh measures to stop overcrowding in the trains too.
Reserved a seat 4 days prior and got a confirmed ticket. It was only after somehow entering the train I realised I couldn't even reach my seat number 64.
After an hour when I reached my seat, I found a pregnant lady sitting on it, so just left and stood at the gate for two hours. pic.twitter.com/r8iCbU7rZN— Abhas Kumar Shrivastava (Kane Williamson FC)✨ (@abhas_rewcie) December 26, 2023
