SHE Teams took swift action during Ganesh festivities at Khairatabad, Hyderabad. In just seven days, nearly 900 men were caught for troubling women.
Out of these, 55 miscreants were caught red-handed near the pandal. Some received counselling, while others will face court proceedings, said the police.
SHE Teams, a special wing of Hyderabad Police, are on duty round the clock during idol immersion. Officers are stationed at pandals and key immersion zones to ensure safety.
Lavanya, the SHE Team In Charge, warned that strict punishment will be given to offenders. She stated that women’s safety remains the top priority.
Women have been advised to call 100 immediately if they face any harassment. The response teams are prepared to act without delay.
Ganesh festivities often bring large crowds, increasing the risk for women. However, constant patrolling by SHE Teams has helped discourage troublemakers.
Many citizens appreciated the efforts of the police. They praised the SHE Teams for making public spaces safer during festivals.
