Shocking: 8000 IIT Students Dropped Out!

8000 IIT Students Dropped OutWhen it comes to the Indian education system, IIT is not only the most prestigious place in engineering but also one of the most reputed and respected institutions in the nation. Every year, more than 10 lakh students dream of getting into this prestigious institution. However, a report issued by the Education Ministry in Rajya Sabha reveals that more than 8000 students dropped out from IITs between 2019 and 2023.

The report also states that, since 2018, around 39 students have committed suicide while being enrolled in an IIT. The numbers are deeply concerning as the report also highlights that 98 students took their own lives in higher education institutions, including central universities.

The concern shouldn’t be limited to just the numbers; it should delve deeper into finding the root cause. Enrolling in a prestigious institution not only brings fame but also comes with loads of expectations, pressure, and oppression.

Academics become suffocating for most students, even if they initially enjoyed it. Modern academics is accompanied by a notion of a rat race, leaving students extremely tired. In modern society’s vision, it’s hard to imagine leading a life without a job.

From a bad grade to multiple negative experiences surrounding studies and the enormous pressure of getting an ‘actual’ job, life becomes tough for students. Consequently, some may feel compelled to quit, whether it’s from the university or life itself.
