In her statement, Shweta questioned how people feel comfortable using such disrespectful words against women of any age or profession.

She pointed out that many individuals who engage in such behaviour are not necessarily uneducated or from troubled backgrounds.

According to her, even people from respected families, including those with mothers, wives, daughters and sisters, sometimes choose to attack women with the most humiliating words they can find.

The actress also reflected on the values she grew up with in Maharashtra.

Sharing her personal connection with the state, Shweta said she was born and raised in Mumbai and has always seen pride and dignity attached to being a Marathi person.

She recalled hearing Marathi women proudly say “Mi Marathi mulgi” and said she grew up believing that Marathi culture respects women, their strength and their dignity.

Shweta further questioned how someone could return home to their family after insulting another woman online in such a manner.

She also mentioned that the person who targeted her is reportedly a supporter of Raj Thackeray’s party.

Her post has sparked conversations about digital behaviour, respect and the responsibility people carry while expressing opinions on social media.
