That might not be in our control but thanks to the authorities, you have to worry about one less thing when planning to visit this beautiful country. Our neighboring country Sri-Lanka has made traveling easy for Indians by allowing visa free entry to everyone.

The move is likely to offer a big boost to the tourism industry of the country which is struggling from an economic crisis. Before this announcement, Indians were eligible for a visa on arrival in Sri-lanka for which they had to submit an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) and it costs ₹2080. This visa free entry is being provided to citizens of India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.

Indian and Sri Lanka share a very old cultural heritage. The two countries have had a relationship during the time of epics like Ramayana. Both the countries share a culture closely related. Buddhism is also a common link between the two countries. Needless to say, Sri Lanka offers some of the finest tourist destinations in the world. Its scenic beaches, tea and coffee plantations, and ancient temples attract tourists from all around the world.

The visa free scheme for Indians is being run as a pilot project and it will remain in effect till 31st March, 2024. So if you’re planning to have a vacation anytime soon, think of Sri Lanka.
