This situation reflects poor monitoring and negligence by authorities. While traders continue to profit, consumers are unknowingly exposed to health risks due to unchecked and unsafe products.
The problem is worsened by careless buying habits. Many people do not check labels while purchasing daily-use items. This negligence extends beyond food products and includes medicines, which can have dangerous consequences.
Illiterate and unaware consumers are the most affected. They often trust sellers blindly and consume products without knowing whether they are expired or unsafe. The risk becomes even more severe when children consume such items unknowingly.
Selling food items without proper labeling is a punishable offence under the law. It poses a direct threat to public health. Immediate action is required through regular inspections, strict penalties, and strong awareness campaigns to protect consumers.
