While the error was likely just a simple oversight, it didn’t stop netizens from imagining outlandish scenarios, including that Kohli, who signed a massive ₹110 crore endorsement deal with PUMA, might now be in charge of the company.

The incident turned into a source of memes amongst the Hyderabadi cricket stans, with fans flooding platforms like Twitter and Instagram with memes about the supposed “rebrand.” One user on X humorously wrote, “Relax guys, the V in PVMA is for Virat Kohli,” adding to the growing online chatter.

Despite the buzz, neither Kohli nor PUMA has commented on the incident, and there’s been no official statement about a potential brand takeover.

The confusion, however, has only added to the mystery and sparked laughter across social media platforms.

While PUMA is a trusted name in the global sportswear industry, they can definitely use the publicity in India’s Cricket fuelled crowds.

One thing is for sure after this slip up. If Virat indeed ends up taking over PUMA, the sales are definitely skyrocketing. Who knows, perhaps PUMA and Virat are testing the waters?
