A horrifying crime has shaken Ludhiana after two unidentified men attempted to dump a suspicious sack near Aarti Chowk on Wednesday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the men were riding a motorcycle when they stopped on the roadside. Locals became suspicious and asked what was inside the sack. One of the men claimed it was “rotten mangoes” and tried to brush them off.
However, the strong foul smell from the sack alarmed the onlookers.
Before the crowd could act further, the two men quickly fled the spot, abandoning the sack. They also left behind the motorcycle, which reportedly had a fake number plate.
Police arrived soon after and discovered the body of a young woman—believed to be around 30 years old—stuffed inside three layered sacks. Blood marks were seen near her nose, raising suspicions of strangulation or suffocation.
Investigators believe she may have been a migrant labourer, but her identity remains unknown as of now.
CCTV footage shows the suspects entering from nearby Sunet village. The pillion rider was dressed in what appeared to be a security guard’s uniform, possibly as a disguise.
Police have obtained surveillance footage and are tracking the suspects’ escape route. They are treating the case as premeditated murder.
The incident occurred barely 50 meters from a police checkpoint, raising questions about law enforcement vigilance.
Officials have urged citizens with any information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
