Tragedy struck in Vikarabad district when a young woman was allegedly killed by her husband over dowry demands, just nine months after marriage. Anusha, 20, lived with her husband Paramesh in the Saipour area of Tandur.
The couple were in love and married on March 12 this year with the consent of both families. Their relationship soon turned bitter. Within three months of the wedding, Paramesh allegedly began demanding dowry. He reportedly harassed Anusha for money and gifts.
On the day of the incident, Paramesh allegedly assaulted Anusha with a stick, demanding immediate dowry. The attack was severe and left her unconscious. Family members rushed her to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Doctors confirmed Anusha was already dead when she arrived at the hospital. The incident shocked residents in the area. Grief and anger spread quickly through the local community after the news broke.
Anusha’s mother lodged a complaint with the police soon after. Authorities registered a case and began an investigation. Paramesh is absconding, along with some of his family members. Police teams are searching for them.
The case has once again highlighted the deep rooted issue of dowry harassment in India. Local residents have expressed outrage. Many are demanding strict action to prevent such crimes and protect young women.
