Ravichandran Ashwin has reacted sharply to reports of a major IPL trade between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). According to reports, RR might send their skipper Sanju Samson to CSK in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

Ashwin Calls Trade “Prasadh” for RR

Ashwin described the trade as “highly beneficial for both teams” but called it a “prasadh” for Rajasthan Royals. He explained that Samson’s numbers are often misunderstood. “He has been spoken about for a poor strike rate against spin. But he mostly bats as a finisher,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Samson’s Role and Impact

Ashwin added that Samson averages 50 against pacers with a strike rate above 150 when batting lower down. He said this move gives RR a strong advantage. “When this goes to RR, it feels like a prasadh for them,” he said, highlighting how the deal could strengthen their lineup.

According to Ashwin, RR’s middle order lacked finishers under pressure. “RR have four attacking batters—Jaiswal, Vaibhav, Parag, and Jurel—but none have closed games. Having experienced all-rounders like Jadeja and Curran adds depth and balance,” he explained.

Ashwin admitted he was surprised by CSK’s move but praised their long-term vision. “I didn’t expect this trade from CSK. It’s a futuristic move getting Sanju as a seven to eight-year plan—an established wicketkeeper-batter and potential captaincy option,” he said.
