Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are reportedly discussing a major trade involving Sanju Samson ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Samson has asked for his release from RR following rising tensions within the franchise.
CSK and RR Reignite Talks
CSK had earlier shown interest in signing Samson but backed off, while Delhi Capitals also explored the option. However, RR is now demanding a big return South African batter Tristan Stubbs and an uncapped Indian player. Delhi Capitals have not accepted the terms yet.
Jadeja Likely in the Trade
CSK has re-entered the race, and reports claim a top CSK player might be part of the deal. Ravindra Jadeja’s name has come up as a likely trade candidate, making this one of the most talked-about swaps in IPL history.
RR Reaches Out to Other Teams
RR owner Manoj Badale is also in contact with other franchises, including Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders. According to Cricbuzz, RR has already checked with CSK about the player’s willingness to move if the deal goes through.
Trade Could Reshape Both Squads
A trade like this would help both teams balance their squads and give players a new start. CSK will finalise its retentions on November 10–11 in a meeting attended by MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad and coach Stephen Fleming.
Final Decision Awaits Player Consent
The final call on the Samson trade will depend on player consent and strategy. RR earlier asked for Jadeja, Gaikwad or Shivam Dube, but CSK is not expected to release Dube or Gaikwad, leaving the trade equation still uncertain.
