R Ashwin believes Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could take completely different paths after their playing careers end.
According to Ashwin, Virat is unlikely to become a coach, while Rohit could continue working in cricket, especially with Mumbai Indians.
Ashwin said he does not see Virat being ready for coaching and feels the former India captain may instead want to take a break from the game.
Rohit‘s situation could be different. He has already won five IPL titles with Mumbai Indians and led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup. Ashwin believes MI would quickly bring him into the setup if he decides to stop playing.
But before retirement, both have one major target the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit will be around 40 during the tournament, while Virat will be 39.
Their recent numbers also show why they are still in the conversation. Virat scored 144 runs in India’s ODI series against England, while Rohit scored 175, including a 138 run knock at Lord’s.
So what happens after 2027?
