The ICC has confirmed the World Test Championship finals in 2027, 2029 and 2031 will be held in England.

The announcement was made at the Annual General Meeting in Singapore where the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was handed the hosting rights.

England’s “successful record” was praised by the ICC. Indian fans had one thought here we go again.

India reached the first two WTC finals.

In 2021 they lost to New Zealand at Southampton.
In 2023 they were thrashed by Australia at The Oval.

Both times the story was same strong on paper, flat on the field. The pressure of a one-off final in English conditions and India’s inability to adapt proved costly.

The last final was different no India. It was South Africa who went all the way, beat Australia at Lord’s and ended their long wait for an ICC title. Lord’s was packed, the atmosphere was electric and ICC loved it.

That match may have sealed the deal for England to host the next three finals. As per earlier reports the BCCI had shown interest in hosting the 2027 final in India.

Talks were even held during an ICC meeting in Zimbabwe. But the ICC stuck with England probably for its neutrality, crowd support and iconic venues.

Will India Ever Win a WTC Final in England? That’s the big question. Three finals gone. Two heartbreaks. No trophies. And now three more chances all in England.

For India it’s not just about reaching the final again. It’s about rewriting the ending. No more excuses. No more meltdowns in the big moment.

The next WTC cycle is around the corner. The road to redemption is wide open. A fresh squad, sharper planning and a mindset shift will be key. England may not change but India’s fate still can.

The venue is fixed. The trophy’s waiting. Can India finally bring it home?
