India celebrate Galle Test win over Sri Lanka

India have made a big move in the World Test Championship after beating Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the Galle Test.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206 on Day 5, while chasing 372. With this win, India have added important points to their WTC campaign and improved their position in the points table.

India started Day 5 with Sri Lanka on 84/4. SL needed 288 more runs, while India needed six wickets.

Dhananjaya de Silva and Sonal Dinusha tried to keep Sri Lanka’s chase alive, but India’s bowlers kept taking wickets.

Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for 206. India won the Test by 165 runs and now lead the two match series 1-0.

Manav Suthar was India’s biggest match winner with the ball. He took 4 wickets in Sri Lanka’s first innings and then took 6 wickets in the second innings.

His biggest impact came when India were close to finishing the match. Suthar dismissed Sonal Dinusha for 84 and then removed Prabath Jayasuriya for a duck.

He completed the same over by dismissing Lahiru Kumara. Suthar finished the Test with 10 wickets, playing a major role in India’s win.

Devdutt Padikkal was India’s top run scorer in the Test. He scored 167 runs in the first innings and 44 in the second, finishing with 211 runs in the match.

KL Rahul scored 82, while Dhruv Jurel made 51. India scored 462 in the first innings and 193 in the second.

The win gives India important points in the current World Test Championship cycle.

India needed a strong result in Sri Lanka to improve their position in the table, and the Galle win gives their campaign a boost.

The second Test will now be important as India look to collect more points and strengthen their chances of reaching the WTC final.

India lead the two match series 1-0 after the Galle victory. The team will now look to carry the same performance into the second Test and complete a series win against Sri Lanka.
