Mohammed Shami has opened up about his personal life in a candid interview on Aap Ki Adalat. The Indian pacer called his marriage with estranged wife Hasin Jahan “the biggest mistake of my life,” admitting it deeply affected him on and off the field.
Marriage and Separation
Shami married Hasin Jahan in 2014, but the relationship ended in 2018 when she filed a domestic violence case. He said those years were the toughest of his life.
Balancing Cricket and Personal Struggles
“It was really difficult. When you are playing at the highest level, you have to divide your focus. One side is watching what is happening at home, the other is performing for the country,” Shami said.
He explained that he tried to make things work. “Nobody wants fights at home, especially when you are serving your country. I tried but it depends on the other side as well. If they don’t want to then patience is the only answer.”
Online Abuse and Public Scrutiny
Shami also revealed the abuse he faced online. “Sometimes I see pictures of myself in places I never visited. The accusations I have faced in the last six or seven years are more than what some criminals face,” he added.
Staying Focused Despite Pressure
Despite legal battles and social media trolling, Shami remained focused on his game. He received strong support from legends like Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, which helped him stay motivated.
Strength and Moving Forward
Shami credited his upbringing, which respected women and celebrated girls, for keeping him grounded. His honest words show the personal struggles behind the fame. Mistakes and criticism didn’t break him, they made him stronger.
