Rishabh Pant has added another major record to his Test career. The India wicketkeeper batter became the fastest player to reach 100 sixes in Test cricket during the Galle Test against Sri Lanka.
Rishabh Pant reached the milestone during his 66 run knock. He completed his 100 Test sixes in just 4,918 deliveries, going past former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, who needed 6,578 balls.
Rishabh Pant is also the first Indian batter to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket, moving ahead of Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma, who both finished with 91 sixes.
Pant started his cricket journey in Roorkee before moving to Delhi for better training opportunities. He trained at Sonnet Cricket Club under coach Tarak Sinha.
During his early days in Delhi, Pant and his mother sometimes stayed at Moti Bagh Gurdwara because accommodation was difficult to afford.
His career then moved quickly. Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs 1.9 crore in the 2016 IPL auction when he was 18. He later became an India player and established himself in Test cricket.
Pant’s career suffered a major setback after his car accident on December 30, 2022. He suffered serious injuries, including damage to his right knee, and spent months in rehabilitation.
He returned to competitive cricket during the 2024 IPL and was later part of India’s T20 World Cup winning campaign.
Rishabh Pant eventually returned to Test cricket and continued with the aggressive batting that has made him one of India’s biggest match changing batters.
Now, after the accident and the long road back, Rishabh Pant has reached 100 Test sixes faster than anyone else.
