Following the failure of Viduthalai Part 2, director Vetrimaaran is currently directing the film Arasan starring Simbu in the lead. According to reports, as of now, only 50% of the film’s shooting has been completed.
The shooting of Arasan started last year and earlier, the makers planned to release the film for Diwali. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the shooting got delayed several times and the film was eventually postponed.
Even though Simbu has lost his reputation with the terrible failures of his last few films, Arasan has generated massive expectations among audiences since its announcement, as it comes under Vetrimaaran’s critically acclaimed Vada Chennai Universe.
At the same time, reports suggest that while the production of Arasan was underway, Vetrimaaran decided to begin shooting for the prequel to the Vada Chennai Universe, titled Rajan Vagaiyara and simultaneously shot crucial sequences for it in between the Arasan schedule.
In this scenario, now there is strong speculation that Simbu is terribly upset with Vetrimaaran over Arasan getting delayed. Reportedly, Vetrimaaran’s focus has shifted completely toward Rajan Vagaiyara, neglecting Arasan in the process.
Furthermore, there is information that Vetrimaaran is planning to release Rajan Vagaiyara first, either in December or for Pongal 2027. Because of this, Simbu’s timeline is being terribly affected, leaving him in a position where he is unable to begin shooting for his next film with Keerthiswaran.
In response to these speculations, many social media users are remarking that Vetrimaaran has not changed, even after the failure of Viduthalai Part 2.
This stems from the fact that Vetrimaaran took a long time to produce Viduthalai Part 2, which caused the budget to shoot up drastically. Consequently, when Viduthalai Part 2 ended up failing at the box office, having fallen short of audience expectations, it resulted in a huge loss to the production house. Following the failure, many criticized Vetrimaaran for delaying the production process without proper planning, even labeling him an unprofessional director at the time.
Therefore, audiences feel that Vetrimaaran has not changed his working style and argue that because of it, Simbu is now getting affected. They believe the director is making a mistake and are urging him to concentrate on Arasan and complete it first.
However, all of these are just social media discussions and there is still no official confirmation on this. It remains to be seen when the shooting of Arasan will conclude and when the film will finally hit the screens.
