Social media has been filled with criticism and debate after Dude director Keerthiswaran’s viral reply to an influencer. The controversy began when Instagram influencer Roshini Karthikeyan posted a screenshot of his response to her message about one of his interviews.
She said the director normalised a scene in Dude where Mamitha kneels to propose to the hero. She messaged him saying no friend speaks the way the hero did in the scene. She also said such conversation should not be treated as normal or casual.
Roshini then criticised the film and called it a total mess, saying the scenes felt disconnected and looked like cringe reels stitched together. Keerthiswaran allegedly replied, “Go and have some life rather than sliding into my DM.” This reply triggered a major backlash.
Many users said the director sounded arrogant and unable to handle criticism. Others felt that the influencer’s comments were harsh and that the director had the right to respond, but he should have chosen better words and offered a more respectful explanation.
The exchange has now turned into a full-blown controversy. Since Dude recently arrived on Netflix, many viewers who missed the theatrical release are watching it now and sharing their own criticisms and reactions online.
